What we collect when you contact us, what we do with it, and what we do not do with it. Written to be read, not to be survived.
This covers thatsonelessthing.com and the contact form on it. If anything here is unclear, ask us — the answer will not be different from what is written here.
What the form asks for
Everything on the form is something we need in order to answer you or to price the work. Nothing on it is there for any other reason.
- Your name, so we know who we are talking to.
- Your phone number, because most of these are faster to sort out in a two-minute call than in six emails.
- Your email address, for the confirmation and for anything worth putting in writing.
- Your address or city, because where the job is decides whether it is inside our area and whether a trip fee applies.
- What needs doing, in your own words.
- The job type, how soon you need it, and whether it is your home or a rental — the three buttons at the top of the form. They decide how quickly it gets looked at.
- Photos, if you send them. Optional, and the fastest route to a price.
The form also records which page you sent it from, and the date and time it arrived. The time is what we measure our own response against, so it is not optional for us either.
What we use it for
Three things, and this is the complete list:
- Getting back to you. A call or an email, on the promise published on every page of this site.
- Pricing the job. Photos and a description are usually enough to put a range on the work without anyone driving out.
- Doing the work, if you go ahead. That means the address and the job details reach the people who turn up to do it, because they cannot do it otherwise.
What we do not do
We do not sell your details. We do not rent them, trade them, or hand them to anyone for their own advertising. Your phone number and email address are not shared with anyone for marketing, ours or anybody else’s. You will not be added to a mailing list because you asked what a ceiling repair costs.
If you contact us and decide not to go ahead, that is the end of it. We do not run a follow-up sequence.
Who else touches it
Two kinds of people, and no others:
- The people doing the work on your job, who need the address, the job details and a way to reach you on the day.
- The services that run the site and deliver the mail. The form posts to our own lead system, which stores the inquiry and sends it to us by email. That runs on hosting and email services that carry the message for us and nothing more.
We will also hand something over if the law actually requires it, and not otherwise.
Photos
Photos you send arrive as email attachments and are used to price and plan the job. They are not stored in our lead database — only the number of photos is — and they are not published anywhere. No photo of your house goes on this site, in an advert, or on social media unless you have told us it can. If we ever ask, it will be an actual question with an actual answer, not a checkbox buried in a form.
Tracking, cookies and adverts
This site does not run Google Analytics, Tag Manager, a Facebook pixel, or any other visitor-tracking or advertising script. Reading these pages sets no cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Two outside connections do happen when a page loads, and it is fair that you know: the headings use a font served by Google Fonts, and the contact form posts to our own lead system. Both see the network address your browser connects from, which is unavoidable for anything a browser fetches. Neither is used to profile you and neither is used for advertising.
One thing is stored on your own device. If you start filling in the contact form and leave without sending it, what you typed is saved in your browser so you do not have to type it again, and it is deleted after seven days or the moment you send the form. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it. If you would rather it did not happen at all, clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it, and private browsing never stores it in the first place.
How long we keep it
Job inquiries are kept as our record of work quoted and work done. We are not sitting on a timer to delete them, and pretending otherwise would be the easy thing to write rather than the true one.
You can ask. Email or call us on the number at the bottom of this page and we will tell you what we hold on you, or delete it. No form, no process, no reason needed. If you ask us to delete something we are required to keep — a paid invoice, for instance — we will say so plainly rather than quietly doing nothing.
Children
This site is for people arranging work on a property. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
If this changes
If we start doing something with your details that is not described here, this page changes first. It carries the date it was last updated, and the change will be described in plain language rather than folded into a longer document.
